THE JOY AND SADNESS OF THE CIVIL SERVICE: Part 1

John has just finished his degree from a reputable university in the united kingdom where his dad paid so much for him to get a quality Education, after  Six years in the UK, John has come to reality that he will never get a decent job to meet the immigration requirement for a resident permit and eventually will have to come back to a country where possibility of getting the comfort he so crave for can only be accessed by those with connection i.e political influence and man know man. All john could hope for is in Nigeria its is faith in God and his promise that he will make a way where there is non and that he owns everything thing. after johns arrival in Nigeria it soon came to him that its not as bad as the Western Media have painted it, that somethings still works if you have the qualifications and patience to follow through. He decided that rather than go home back to the south and depend on daddy waiting and hoping some of his friends come through with the oil job, john took matters into his hand by making efforts into the federal ministry where he can serve his country better which after some share grace on his head he got and everyone one was happy for him, people came to john from far as south to show them the way as he is now seen as a Big boy who was able to land a government job in no distant time after arrival from the UK without them asking the troubles he had to go through with all the rejections and sleepless night at the civil service commission, been tussled right left and center while waiting for the OGA at the top who doesn't come to work until 4pm and close 4:30pm. All they wanted was connection that he cant give.

After a year of getting a government job John soon realise its not what it seem with salaries not coming on time regardless of the fact its far less than what hes worth in the private sector, he never mind because all he can think of is the future and the glory that will come with it because ROME was not built in a day, though at first it looked promising because finding old school mate from UK and young minds of his age the system will always be the system where nothing changes (either you belong or you don't), John found out that hes about to suffer from brain drain as all what was thought in school has no place in the civil service because the oga at the top will have non of it or change the old system of na only me wait your turn style. but john was determine to make it because of his hunger to serve his nation and become a force in the future of his country's economical and political affairs.
